Where should I search after a recent arrest?
Start with the county, city, parish, borough, regional jail, or detention agency connected to the arrest. A newly booked person usually will not appear in a state-prison database until sentencing and transfer.
Does All County Arrests search inmate records directly?
No. This independent directory identifies the responsible official agency. Names, dates of birth, booking numbers, and inmate numbers are entered only on the official agency website.
What is the difference between county jail and state prison search?
County and local searches generally cover recent bookings, pretrial detention, short sentences, and local custody. State corrections searches cover people committed to a state prison system.
How do I search for a federal inmate?
Use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for supported federal records. Federal custody is separate from state Departments of Corrections and county jail systems.
Why can an inmate search return no result?
Booking may still be processing, the person may have transferred or been released, the spelling or identifier may differ, or the database may cover only certain facilities, custody types, ages, or dates.
